As it was announced by the Washington Nationals a day before the Nationals season started, Fauci was the first to throw out a pitch during their first game, which was against the New York Yankees. In case you live under a rock, Fauci is one of the most important people with the world’s current state.

He’s currently the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, and also became the main voice for the Institute since the Covid-19 outbreak started. Of course, none of this would have been achieved without his blessing. The new sports season has started with the coronavirus pandemic in course, but things seem to be under control when it comes to this scene.

Fauci has stated several times how much he admires the Washington Nationals, and the team refers to him as a “true champion for our country.” The team stated they were honored to have him throwing the first pitch on the opening season, all of this through announcement made from the Washington Nationals’ official Twitter account.

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been giving the players and everyone related to the sports scene several warnings about how dangerous is for them to restart the season when the Covid-19 pandemic is still aggravating, with more cases accumulating each day in the United States. One of the things he recommended was to start the games in October, when the cold season starts, which helps to exacerbate the virus’ effects.

However, as much warnings as he may have given, he never said that a particular sport can’t be played. He clarified that he’s only giving advice through his knowledge, facts and evidence available about the matter.

Dispute between the President and the Doctor

Dr. Anthony Fauci has been constantly giving advice to the country about managing the pandemic, however, Donald Trump didn’t hesitate to call him an alarmist. As of now, there are almost 150 deaths by coronavirus and there are more than 4.25 million cases confirmed.

Three years ago, in 2017, Donald Trump was invited by the Washington Nationals to throw the first pitch during the season opening, but due to “problems with his schedule” he had to decline the invitation. It’s a regular tradition to invite presidents to throw the first pitch, but Trump isn’t welcome in most stadiums, like that time where he showed up when the Game 5 of the World Series was taking place, and fans booed at him.

California, New York and Florida are the three states with the biggest number of people infected, while New York is the one leading with deaths, with more than 32,295 confirmed deaths during the past days. New Jersey isn’t behind, even if it doesn’t make it to the top 3, it is the second state with the most deaths in the country, with more than 15,776.

However, there is hope, and as of now, there are more than 1.28 million people already recovered from Codivd-19. Hopefully, the sports scene won’t be too affected by this, and we are yet to see if everything goes smoothly as the season advances.
